TWG Membership 2009 Annual Report

The Washington Group (TWG) is an Association of American-Ukrainian and other professionals which helps their members to build a professional network in the area.

TWG Membership stands at 109. This consists of 43 currently paid Full members, 47 Associate members, 9 Student members, 1 Corporate member and 9 Honorary members.

I think that the most important way to increase the number of members is periodically updating and publishing the Membership Directory. It’s very important that our current members have up-to-date information so they can get full networking benefits.

Also, there are a number of other things that can be done to help to maintain and increase membership levels.

One of these is to send Membership Renewal Notices periodically. Therefore, Renewal Notices are sent out to everyone at the end of every calendar year. Mykola Babiak and I performed this task at the end of 2008.

Planning and promoting a number of events would likely increase membership levels. At the events, prospective members could learn more about TWG and the benefits of joining. It will be important for current members to take an active role at recruiting new members at these events.

Furthermore, TWG newsletters, brochures, and sign-up sheets will be placed at Ukrainian events and establishments.

The summer internship at the Embassy of Ukraine is a great possibility to build interest in TWG among young people. TWG should strive to continue this opportunity.

All members can help by volunteering to help with events and functions. Maintaining Membership levels continues to be a team effort.  I would especially like to thank Mykola Babiak and Svitlana Kozyr for working with me on the membership team.
