Hollywood Trident Foundation Scholarship Program (posted 11/12/03)
The Hollywood Trident Foundation is announcing a scholarship program to the Los Angeles Film School for an 8-week intensive course in filmmaking. The course is open to applicants of Ukrainian heritage who express a strong desire to learn professional filmmaking skills. Students can be at beginner level or experienced professionals who might wish to change their careers.

Student Exchange Program to Ukraine: (posted 11/6/03)
Of interest to students and parents of students who will be 15-18 years this coming summer: Daniel King will be coming to the Taras Shevchenko School of Ukrainian Studies, Westland Middle School, 5511 Massachusetts Ave., Bethesda, MD this Saturday Nov. 8 at 1:00 pm to discuss the Rotary Club's sponsorship of exchange programs of students involving Ukraine. Details of this program are available at http://www.exchangestudent.org/.  This is the website for ESSEX, the Rotary umbrella organization that actually makes the assignments. The program includes summer exchange programs for 3-6 weeks, as well as lengthier exchange programs during the school year.

The Kennan Institute offers Research Scholarships (3-9 months duration) scholars whose research in the social sciences or humanities focuses on the former Soviet Union (excluding the Baltic states).

Student Membership Offer (posted 8/28/03)
In conjunction with TWG lowering its fees for one-year student membership from $15 to $5, two anonymous donors have contributed $100 each to The Washington Group for the sponsorship of 40 student memberships.  The first 40 students accepted for membership will receive this rare benefit.

The Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv invites you to its Ukrainian Summer Program June 29 -Aug. 7, 2003 in historic Lviv, LANGUAGE COURSES: Intensive and semi-intensive courses in beginning, intermediate and advanced Ukrainian. CULTURE COURSES: offered in English in conjunction with St. Thomas More College, University of Saskatchewan: Contemporary Ukraine, Christian Ritual, Christian Thought in Art. COMMUNITY LIFE: mixes a lively student body from North America, Europe and Ukraine. Residence with host families can add further to the immersion experience (but a western-style dormitory also available). Field trips include both the cultural events and museums of Lviv and expeditions in the countryside.
