Discussion: With Courage And Persistance - Eliminating Nuclear Weapon Systems In Ukraine, 1994-2004

Joseph P. Harahan, Senior Historian, Defense Threat Reduction Agency, U.S. Department of Defense, and Fellow, Woodrow Wilson Center. The speaker will discuss how the leaders of three nations, Ukraine, Russia, and the United States devised a complex policy solution to decommission, dismantle, and destroy Ukraine’s inherited nuclear forces and their weapons, and then examine how the policy was implemented over the next decade.
