Seminar: Rise of Democratic Opposition in Ukraine

Thursday, March 10, 2005 (12:15 to 2:00 p.m.)

You are invited to a seminar sponsored by the SAIS Russian and Eurasian Studies Program. The session will discuss a paper by Serhiy Kudelia entitled ""The Rise of Democratic Opposition in Ukraine: From Obscurity to Triumph, 2000-2004." Mr. Kudelia has written analyses of Ukrainian internal affairs for Radio Liberty/Radio Free Europe.  He is also a Ph.D. candidate at SAIS. The discussant at the session will be Dr. Donald Jensen of RFE/RL.

Since the seminar is designed to generate productive exchanges of ideas, we ask that all participants agree to read the paper in advance. The paper will be sent to you when you respond to this invitation to what promises to be a stimulating meeting on an important subject.

A light lunch will be available at 12:15 pm; the discussion will begin promptly at 12:30 pm.

Room 812
SAIS's Rome Building
1619 Massachusetts Avenue, NW.

Please contact Ms. Elena Gerasimov, the coordinator of the Russian and Eurasian Studies Program, at 202.663.5795 or egerasimov@jhu.edu to indicate whether you will attend.

To facilitate planning, please respond at your earliest convenience.
