Reception and Tasting:  Embassy of Ukraine

Thursday, February 24, 2005 (7:00 pm - 9:00 pm)

Join us at the lovely Embassy of Ukraine as we taste authentic native cuisine, wine, beer and a selection of vodkas (known as "horilka"). Ukrainian cuisine originates from peasant dishes based on grains and vegetables such as potatoes, cabbage, beets and mushrooms. Many American's from the Northeast are familiar with "pierogies", but the Ukrainian name for this dish is "varenyky" - we will have a wide selection of varenyky and Ukrainian dishes made from original recipes by the Embassy Chef. Event catered by the Ukrainian Embassy chef; sponsored by Tastedc.com.

This historic Embassy in Georgetown was originally the Forrest - Marbury House, the site of one of the United States' most significant historical events, the establishment of the federal city of Washington, D.C. Although George Washington ate here (there will be a reception in the same room where he sat for dinner - the George Washington Memorial Room!) our cuisine for this evening will be very different than Continental cuisine 200 years ago!
