The Embassy of Ukraine has the pleasure to invite you to meet internationally acclaimed Ukrainian tenor Viktor Lutsiuk. Viktor Lutsiuk is performing in Tchaikovsky's "The Maid of Orleans" at the The Kennedy Center through April 11, 2005.

Viktor Lutsiuk, tenor, was born in Ivanychi, in the Volyn Region of North-West Ukraine. After completing his secondary education in Novovolynsk he studied geology at Kharkiv University. Then he went on to study music at the Kotliarevsky Conservatory in Kharkiv, from where he graduated in 1987.  From 1986 to 1996 he was a soloist with the Dnipropetrovsk Opera, where he made his debut as Petro in Natalka Poltavka by Mykola Lysenko.

In 1996 he joined the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, Russia. In the 1998/99 season he sang Andrei (Mazeppa) at La Scala. In 1999, with the Kirov Opera (based at the Mariinsky Theatre), he sang the title roles of Parsifal in London, Lohengrin in Baden Baden and Andrei (Mazeppa) in Glasgow, broadcast live on BBC Radio 3. He has toured with the Kirov Opera in Italy, Spain, France, Switzerland, Germany, Japan, Finland, the Netherlands, Slovenia, the USA, Turkey and the United Kingdom. He has featured in recordings of Boris Godunov, Mazeppa and Semyon Kotko.
