Presentation: Ukrainian Diaspora -- Yesterday, Today and TomorrowFriday, May 13, 2005 (7:00 PM)The Washington Group in cooperation with the Embassy of Ukraine Present Dr. Lubomyr Luciuk Adjunct Professor, Dept. of Geography, and Fellow, Chair of Ukrainian Studies, at University of Toronto; Full Professor, Dept. of Politics & Economics at the Royal Military College of Canada on the topic of Ukrainian Diaspora: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow. Dr. Lubomyr Luciuk is a distinguished professor, political scientist, and author of numerous books and publications. His most recent book, “Searching For Place”, deals with the history of Ukrainian immigrants who came to North America at the turn of the century and the many social, political, economic, and cultural problems they faced in their new homeland. The book will be available for purchase at the event. Professor Luciuk’s presentation will focus on the current problems of the Ukrainian diaspora and propose some ideas as to the role it could play in light of the political changes that have occurred in Ukraine.
