Tenor VIKTOR LUTSIUK is Charles VII in the Washington Opera's staging of
Tchaikovsky's The Maid of Orleans at the Opera House of the Kennedy Center for
the Performing Arts.
Victor Lutsyuk, Tenor, is an Honoured Artist of Ukraine (1994). Born in
Ivanitchi (Ukraine). Graduated from the Vocal Faculty of the Kotliarevsky
Conservatory, Kharkov in 1987. In 1986 - 1996 was a soloist of the
Dnepropetrovsk Opera Theatre. Joined the Mariinsky Theatre in 1996 and made his
debut as Andrei (Mazeppa). He has toured with the Mariinsky Theatre in Italy,
Spain, France, Switzerland, Germany, Japan, Finland, Netherlands, Slovenia, the
United States (Metropolitan Opera), Turkey, Great Britain.
His recordings include: Boris Godunov, Mazeppa, Semyon Kotko with Philips
Classics.
His repertoire includes: Andrei (Mazeppa), Don Jose (Carmen), Pinkerton (Madama
Butterfly), Prince Vladimir (Prince Igor), Alfredo Germont (La traviata), Don
Carlo (Don Carlo), Parsifal (Parsifal), Grigori (Boris Godunov), Semyon Kotko (Semyon
Kotko), Herman (The Queen of Spades), Andrei Khovansky (Khovanshchina),
Lohengrin (Lohengrin), Sadko (Sadko), Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor), Radames
(Aida), Prince Vsevolod Yur'evich (The Legend of the Invisible City of Kitezh),
Hofmann (Les contes d'Hofmann), S. Gubaidulina's Johannes-Passion (2000).
In 1998/ 99 season sang Andrei (Mazeppa) at La Scala. In 1999 with the Kirov
Oepra, sang the title roles of Parsifal in London, Lohengrin in Baden Baden and
Andrei (Mazeppa) broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 from Glasgow.
