National Press Club Newsmaker News Conference: Ukraine - Still Out In The Cold?

Thursday, December 8, 2005 (3:00 p.m.)

Dr. Olexiy Haran, Eurasia Foundation vice president for Ukraine, Belarus & Moldova; Dr. Hryhoriy Nemyria, advisor to former Ukraine Prime Minister Yulla Tymoschenko; Mr. Jan Pieklo, director, PAUCI Foundation; and Dr. Oleksandr Sushko, director of the Center for Peace, Conversion & Foreign Policy of Ukraine will hold an "Afternoon Newsmaker" news conference. They will discuss "Ukraine: Still Out in the Cold?"

In 2004, thousands of Ukrainians occupied the main squares and streets of the country, protesting and reversing official presidential election results, which they considered rigged. A year after this victory of the "Orange Revolution," four observers of the Ukrainian scene look at what they see as revolution, reform, stagnation and setback in Ukraine from national and international perspectives.
